A good example of my having to "redeem a canvas". I had worked on a piece for around four months and gotten so bogged down in details... it had almost become like an endless chess game (and I was losing).
In a fit of exasperation I gessoed over the whole thing and painted this piece in about a week. I regret to this day having dstroyed the painting under this one, but sometimes you are unlucky enough to get a cursed canvas, and are fortunate to be able to redeem it at all.
I still have a few in gesso purgatory.
So there really IS water on Mars! This is as fantastic (and haunting) as anything you've painted..though I wish you hadn't told the story of the original painting you were working on, because it leaves me realllly wanting to know what you had going on in that one. That water fountain takes me back in my mind to one of my earliest memories, when I was 4 years old. I was in an old J.C. Penney store...shopping with grandparents. I wanted a drink of water, but I was too short...so my grandfather held me up to a fountain that looked much like this one. He told me to put my mouth in position and then say "come on water"..and I did. Incredibly, without me or him doing anything all with our hands, the water came streaming out and I drank. I was so amazed that I made him hold me there for a long time, doing that trick over and over until I was totally bloated. It took me until I was about 12 to realize some of those water fountains have a footbar to make the water flow.

Very interesting atmosphere, there is a successful blend of that timeless feel and identifiable modern content. Visually I like the blood, but it does seem a little out of place content wise.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

She's a puppet turned to queen
She's the harlot of the holy
Only angels hear her sing
