The Cereal God by kolaboy The Cereal God by kolaboy
Acrylic on canvas, 36x48 inches. Old, and new.

Old, as in begun in 1994. New, as in finished (one hopes) last night. 15 years ago I did something that I had never done before, and have never done since - I listened to someone who told me the background "wasn't working". Matter of fact it was working. Thus began a journey of 15 years, endlessly changing the background and painting around this poor girl.
It's not quite the same as before, but it's possibly a bit better (and certainly a bit thicker), and it's done, and the girl survived, and all is right with the world =D

Thanks for looking =)

Amazing work- her comfy clothes make me wish I was alive in the 90s, and of course I love the constellations and the rock star caricature on our favorite cereal- never have carcinogenic compounds looked so good! Sweating a little...

:) to know she is ok. Such hopes for all.

Q? May the street lamp have given her solace too?

It came out great! I'm still working on the symbolism of the statue, though ... I'd imagine Dr. Freud would have something to say about it. :-)

She's certainly getting her daily dose of nickel, which appears to be the secret of luxuriant hair growth. :D

The caption on that middle flash-card reminds me of the symbols on my Tuareg rings. A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma...

Excellent work, my friend. :star:

Thanks Lloyd.
That may have been in the back of my mind, seeing as how it was one of the last things added ;)

I once did a beauuuutiful drawing of a still life for a class assignment... a skull, silver shoes, and a scarf. I was so damn proud of it, and everything about it was lovely- from the composition to the shading. My teacher basically told me it sucked because it had no background. Long story short, I got discouraged, mistreated the drawing, and now it's long gone in the garbage. A year later, I had a critique, and that teacher told me that my lack of a background throughout most of my pieces was wonderful. From then on, I've been all Cartman-esque when it comes to that sort of thing... Whateva, whateva, I do what I want! I love your work though, it's always worth a closer look. Your work is divine!

All I could imagine was Degrassi Junior high and she skipped school to dream away in those flakes.

So many reminders. :D

The worst is Linus, from Peanuts. I heard Reggie (from The Archies) got him hopelessly addicted to Tic Tacs and Dynamints. He doesn't even play the piano anymore...
